Our research question was how does the age of an open star cluster affect the diameter of it. We were able to answer it concluding that as an open star cluster ages, the diameter of the cluster steadily decreases. Our data and plots consist only of open star clusters since we did not have the data on globular star clusters. If we were given more time, we would like to research the effect of the age on diameter on globular clusters and compare the difference between open star clusters and globular star clusters.
Some difficulties we had when doing our data analysis was first finding the appropriate data for our research. The amount of data on the Milky Way Galaxy project is huge, and finding the appropriate data such as the age and diameter was difficult. This is why we could not find data for globular clusters and had to only use data on open clusters. Another difficulty we had when working on the data analysis was converting the units. We had to convert the unit arcsecs to kiloparsecs since it was better to use kiloparsecs when looking at the diameter. To figure out some of these problems, we as a group decided to split the work evenly and tackle each issue as they came up.
Our proudest achievements when doing data analysis was finding the data and being able to implement our coding skills to present the data on our website. We are pretty happy with our website and with the way it came out. We can also say that our biggest success as a group was the creation of our website. Visually, it looks appealing and we are able to present our project for everyone to see.
