Yohan's Community Bash Presentation Post

Yesterday we presented our "Community Bash" webpage to some people on the Zooniverse team. I enjoyed presenting since it gave me a chance to speak to the representatives and my peers in a formal way; it was nice to have to do something like standing in front of people again. Because I know that I’m gong to have to do that a lot in school this and next year.

I feel that I did well in explaining my part of the presentation, considering the conclusion wasn’t directly written on the board. I wish I could’ve thought ahead and added the conclusion parts to the “Community Bash” page. If I had, I'm sure I wouldn’t have struggled as much to finish off the presentation. Because we needed to end in a bang.

I learned a lot from my research question, such as using the Milky Way Project’s data website to find all of the data we needed to plot on the graphs. I also learned a lot more about setting up websites. Although I’ve done it before for school, I never had to do things such as working with a group to make a website or compiling my own data using code into graphs using python. I'm not a rookie at coding anymore, or at least I know more than a normal person would.

If I could ask some more questions about my website, I would ask things like, “What would happen if I added way more clusters to the graph, would it change the line of best fit?” Also I could ask, “ What would happen if I removed all of the outlying points in the graph? Would it change the line of best fit?” If I had asked these questions, I'm sure it would’ve made the presentation even better.
